Women's ministries
St. Peter's Episcopal Church Women (ECW)
he mission of St. Peter's Episcopal Church Women (ECW) is to bring together all women through Christ while sharing God’s grace and love in our community through prayer, education, concern for others, and joyful service. Please join our fellowship as we work together to plan missions supporting community needs. We come together for service but also for fun, fellowship, and spiritual connection. All women are invited to attend monthly meetings on the first Sunday of the month from 5 to 7 p.m. For more information about St. Peter's ECW please contact Karen Shilson at shilson@att.net.
ECW annual garage sale, 2010
We made $1400 on our garage sale Saturday, April 10. Thanks to all the women who contributed items and their time.
At the ECW meeting on April 11, we decided we would like to use some of the funds from the sale for the church and discussed a few ideas. They were: a Crucifix on a stand to put in the front of the church before the service. Someone mentioned that the one at Gene’s funeral was beautiful. Stella Albury will get the information on where they got it. Denise Burel suggested that it might be better to hold back on the purchases at this time but put some of the money into the building fund.
If you have any ideas you would like to put forward for consideration, send them to Karren Shilson (shilson@att.net) and copy Melissa Mayer (melissamary@gmail.com).

Mark Your Calendar for Next E.C.W. Meeting
Karen Pynes is hosting the next ECW meeting at her home, 3813 Leeward Circle, The Colony, on Sunday, September 12. The theme will be "Back to school," and it will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. We are still collecting for the Denton county women's shelter. They are in critical need of twin bed sheets, pillows, and towels (new or clean used items). We have been collecting paper goods for them every month and Karren Shilson has been delivering the items to the shelter. This is a very worthy cause and it is an honor for ECW to be able to help other women who are in great need.Kathy Wismer will put out the basket for the shelter at the church before the meeting. Click here for a list of other items needed by the shelter.

| ECW women pose for a picture at the tea party it threw for Naomi Brotherton's birthday. She's the one in the center with the sign, "No Spring Chicken." She just turned 90, and is a very valued member of both the women's fellowship and St. Peter's. |

Daughters of the King (DOK)

This group of ladies is dedicated to praying and assisting in the church as needed by the Vicar. They meet officially about six times a year for lunch, fellowship, study and prayer, however they can also often be found informally meeting up at a local restaurant after church. They are a close group who support one another with love and concern. For more information about checking out the group, contact Denise Burel at Denise.Burel@McKesson.com.

Daughter, Naomi Brotherton, exhibits her art
In the Diocese of Dallas, the chapter of St. Peter's by the Lake in The Colony, located northwest of Dallas, has a Daughter who is not only a famous, accomplished artist, but is also still teaching art well into her senior years. Her name is Naomi Brotherton, and the Daughters in the Dallas diocese are quite proud of her as diocesan DOK president, Helen Walters, honors her at an open house of Naomi's paintings.
