Community groups

n many ways, community groups are the heart of St. Peter’s. Christian community is not about just "going to church," but being church in our lives and relationships. They allow us to come together in a small, close setting with the purpose of getting to know one another truly, growing together in our faith, and standing with one another in times of need.

Community groups consist of about 12-15 people who gather together for socializing, discussion, and prayer. They meet from September through June. Everyone is encouraged to become part of a group to connect to other Christians and study Scripture together. Below are our current groups. We hope to add new groups soon.

To find a group, begin by looking at each of the group descriptions to see if one of them catches your attention. Next, call Father Philip (972-625-5788) for further information about the group, directions, and contact information. Feel free to visit as many of the groups as you want until you find the one that is the best fit for you.

Our Current Groups

Weekly Young Adult group
If you are looking for a place of safety where you will not be judged and can ask any question you want, we invite you to join us on Mondays for our young adult group. From parties to Bible study, we enjoy growing together and would love to have you join us. For more information and to find out where the group is meeting next, contact FatherPhilip@SaintPeter.com.

Community grief group
How do we make sense of the pain and suffering in our lives? How can we reconcile the reality of our anguish with the goodness of God? Whenever you struggle, God's heart aches for you. He desperately wants to walk with you through the difficult and desperate times of your life so He can lead you to hope.

St. Peter's has launched a new community grief group. It is for anyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one. If that describes you, please join us. If you know someone who could benefit from the group, please invite him or her to our meetings. Participants sign a covenant to keep confidential anything that is shared in the group, and you may join at any time.

Order of St. Luke
The OSL is a non-denominational ministry dedicated to Jesus Christ’s great commission of healing and anointing. Prayers and anointing can bring healing, forgiveness, peace, and a profound sense of God’s enabling presence to the body, soul, and spirit.

The OSL serves the community as well as the congregation through outreach — making visits to pray, anoint, and minister communion to the homebound, hospital patients, and anyone in need throughout
the year.

  • Sunday Service — OSL time of prayer/anointing — available during Eucharist.
  • OSL team — Judi Gugel, team leader; Kathy Wismer, team co-leader; Calvin Fox; Marlene Milsak; Karren Shilson; Earl Wismer

OSL meets once a month. If you would like to apply for training as a member of the Order of St. Luke, contact Judi Gugel (jujugu2001@yahoo.com).

Daughters of the King
This group of ladies is dedicated to praying for and serving in the church. They meet six times a year for lunch, fellowship, study, and prayer; however, they can also often be found informally meeting up at the local McDonalds nearly every Sunday after church. For more information, contact Denise Burel (Denise.Burel@McKesson.com).

If you are interested in learning about training to become a group leader, contact Father Philip (FatherPhilip@SaintPeter.com).
