What's the next step?
It is quite easy to do the next bit. The first thing to do is talk to God. You need to admit to him that you have rebelled against him and ask for his mercy based on Jesus' death in your place. You'll also need to ask God to help you change from being a rebel to living with Jesus as the authority in your life. The Bible says, "if we confess our sins to God, he will keep his promise and do what is right: he will forgive us our sins and purify us from all our wrongdoing" (1 John 1:9). You can talk to him now, wherever you are. Having talked to God, you may already feel a new peace in your heart. That's God's way of showing you that he's come in. Even if you don't feel anything now, keep believing that God has answered your prayer, and very soon, you will notice that things are different inside. God has also given you two gifts: his spirit and eternal life. Though people come to Jesus in various ways, the biblical model for the next step is always water baptism. The Bible teaches that through baptism we are buried with Christ in his death so that we can be raised with Christ in his resurrection. Through baptism, we are able to experience new life in Christ.
