Questions?
Q. What do you think life after death is like? A. This is a good question. The Bible is clear that we will go immediately
into God's presence when we die. It also tells us that, at a future
point in history, Jesus will return
to earth, God will renew all of his good creation, and He will give
us new, resurrected, physical bodies. The Bible tells us that we,
as God's people, will actually be running the new world on his behalf.
This idea goes back to Genesis when humans were supposed to be running
the Garden and looking after the animals before they rebelled against
God. We don't know everything about this new creation,
but we do know that there will be no more crying or sorrow, and
that "No one has ever seen this, and no one has ever heard about
it. No one has ever imagined what God has prepared for those who
love him" (1 Cor.2:9). We can't wait. Q. When will Jesus come
back? A. The Bible says that no one knows the time or season. It also says
that God will not return until the entire world has heard the gospel
message. Q. Why don't I wait and
make a decision later? A. Many people have asked this question. Our answer is always to ask
a question, "What if something happens to you tonight? Would
you be ready to If you have not asked Jesus to forgive you your
sins, you are in trouble. Furthermore, Jesus' gift of eternal life
doesn't come to Christians just when they die. Eternal life starts
the moment they become part of God's family. Jesus gives us a great
life now. Far from being restrictive, the Christian life is really
full and exciting. Q. Why is there so much
suffering in the world? A. Many people ask me that, if God is a God of love,
why does he allow suffering in the world, like famine, earthquakes,
etc.? The short answer to this is: we do not know. However, we do
know that, since man chose to go his own way, some of these things
are the result of man's sin. Nevertheless, we do know that God is
a God of love and justice, and he will have an answer for us one
day. Q. What about baptism? A. Scripture is clear that, as a sign of our change of heart, we need
to be baptized as soon as we can after we have become a Christian.
Baptism symbolizes that we are leaving our sinful lives behind and
starting a new life, which is clean and spotless. This process was good enough for Jesus when John
baptized him; so, it should be equally as good for us! Q. Do I have to get my life straightened out overnight? A. Jesus wants you to come to him now, warts and all.
The Holy Spirit (who comes into our lives when we become Christians)
will help us become more like Jesus. This is not an overnight process;
so, do not get worried about it. However, from now on, our responsibility
is to avoid situations that would cause us to sin. Q. Is it really as simple
as you make out? A. We do not really make it out. The Bible tells us how simple it is.
Becoming a Christian is the easy bit because God now wants to be
in the driver's seat of your life while you become the passenger.
This means quite a change in most of our lives, but it is worth
it because God is a far better driver than any of us are. If you have any questions, please e-mail us, and we will answer you as soon as we can. |
